Area Sales Manager – Build and grow our retail presence across Europe

Aabenraa

Are you motivated by building new business and expanding into untapped markets? We have already established a strong retail presence across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland – now we are looking for someone to drive our next phase of growth across Europe

ABENA is a global company supplying a wide range of FMCG products to customers in more than 98 countries. As part of our continued growth, we are strengthening our commercial focus on the retail segment across Europe. We are looking for an Area Sales Manager who wants to take ownership of developing our retail presence across selected European markets.

This role plays a central part in making that happen.

The role combines strategy and execution. You will not step into a finished setup—you will build it. Working closely with the International Director, you will define how we approach these markets, from identifying the right customers and product focus to shaping our go-to-market strategy and executing it.

That means starting with market insight and customer mapping, creating the first commercial traction, and over time contributing to how we scale and structure the area.

Your main responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize target markets, customers, and retail segments
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for selected European markets
  • Build and manage relationships with key retail customers such as supermarkets, pharmacy chains, DIY stores, and cash & carry
  • Drive direct sales activities and support distributors in strengthening their retail sales
  • Analyze market potential, customer needs, and product opportunities to guide commercial decisions
  • Contribute to building structure and scalability, including the foundation for future team development

What we hope you bring

  • Experience with sales in retail, FMCG, healthcare products, or similar
  • Experience from within a retail organization is an advantage
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial approach
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn insights into concrete actions
  • Persistence in following up on opportunities and moving them forward
  • Relationship-building skills and a customer-first mindset
  • Comfort working across markets and cultures in an international environment

Your team, our culture and values

In ABENA, you will be part of an international and collaborative organization where we value trust, cooperation, and a strong sense of responsibility.

We work closely across functions and markets, and we believe the best results come from combining structures with flexibility, and ambition with a supportive working environment.

Our sales philosophy is simple: strong results are built on trust. We aim to understand our customers’ business and create value that supports long-term partnerships, not just short-term transactions.

Because we care about how we work together—and the impact we create for our customers.

Your leader at ABENA will be International Director Claus Espersen, who describes their leadership style as trust-based, direct, and supportive:

“I believe in giving ownership and space to take initiative, while being close enough to support when needed. In this role, you will have a real opportunity to shape your own area—and I will support you in making it happen.”

We look forward to hearing from you and receiving your application

If you are interested in the position, please send your CV as soon as possible. We review applications as we receive them and will close the search once we have found our new colleague.

Due to the summer holiday period, there may be a longer response time.

Read more about our recruitment process here.

If you are curious to learn more about the job, you are welcome to contact International Director Claus Espersen at +45 5158 1868.

Sr. Manager Commercial Supply Chain - Connecting global transport and distribution

Aabenraa

Are you looking to shape and take ownership of ABENAs global transport and logistics setup? do you know how to challenge and shape transport contracts and optimize warehouse flows to create real business value?

If so, you might be the perfect Senior Manager, Commercial Supply Chain we are looking for at ABENA!

Today, responsibilities are spread across functions, markets, and partners. In this role, you will bring structure and direction, acting as the key link between supply chain, logistics, and distribution. You will take ownership of outsourced transport solutions, monitor carrier performance, and identify opportunities to improve both cost and service levels.

You will play a central role in developing and implementing a more aligned global transport strategy, ensuring consistency across markets while working closely with both local and regional teams across warehousing, procurement, sales, and supply chain.

ABENA operates globally within healthcare, where reliable deliveries and high service levels are critical. You will be key in ensuring that our transport and distribution setup supports these expectations while balancing cost, performance, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities within this role

  • Developing ABENA's global transport and distribution both nationally and globally - acting as the central point of contact across supply chain, logistics, and commercial stakeholders
  • Reviewing and optimizing current transport, warehousing (including 3PL), and distribution practices
  • Leading transport tenders and contract negotiations across road, sea, and air
  • Ensuring alignment between business requirements, service levels, contract requirements, and logistics capabilities
  • Driving cost optimization and performance management across transport providers and own fleet
  • Optimize day-to-day transport operations across both external providers and ABENA's own fleet, including cost control, KPI follow-up, and improvement initiatives

What we hope you bring

  • Strong experience with global transport setups across road, sea, and air, including hands-on involvement in execution and optimization
  • Experienced people leader with a proven ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams
  • End-2-End understanding – with strong stakeholder management skills from Customer order to final delivery to the customer
  • Proven track record in tender management, contract negotiation, and commercial ownership of transport and 3PL agreements
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end supply chain flows, including the link between procurement, warehousing, and distribution
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to work with data, cost structures, and performance KPIs to drive improvements
  • Ability to create clarity and direction in a complex and fragmented setup, naturally taking ownership and acting as a central point of coordination
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge the business and ensure alignment between commercial decisions and operational realities

You as a Leader, Our Culture and Values

In this role, you will lead a team of four direct reports and one indirect report across Operational Supply Chain, Transport, and Distribution. Success requires a leader who understands that people are motivated in different ways and who can adapt their leadership style to the needs of everyone.

You are a coach at heart, someone who takes the time to understand each team member’s strengths, ambitions, and challenges, and who can inspire them to perform at their best. At the same time, you are skilled at creating alignment across functions, helping the team move in the same direction and understanding how their individual contributions support shared goals.

In short, you are a people-focused leader who can motivate individuals, unite teams, and create an environment where everyone can succeed together.

The team refers to Head of Global Supply Chain Mikael Hansen, who describes his leadership style as follows:

“My role is to support and coach, not to control, and I'm always available for a sparring session or an open conversation when it's needed. I believe the best results come from people who feel empowered, not managed. I value structured initiative, and a good sense of humor”

At ABENA, you join a global company with a strong purpose: to make a real difference in the everyday lives of people around the world. We combine professionalism with a warm, people-first culture where collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement are necessary parts of everyday life. We take pride in delivering high-quality work with integrity, guided by our core values of trust, fairness, and cooperation. These values shape how we lead, support one another, and create meaningful impact for our customers and communities.

Your leader at ABENA will be Head of Global IT Infrastructure, Michael Lund Jensen, who describes his leadership style as:

“I run a straightforward, non‑political team where we speak honestly and trust each other’s technical judgement. I’m responsible for the goals and results, but the team decides how we get there. My job is to support, clear the path, and make sure we succeed and learn together.”

At ABENA, we blend professionalism with a warm, people-first culture where collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement thrive. ABENA A/S

Product Compliance Specialist - Make Compliance Practical

Aabenraa

Do you want to play a role where structure, compliance, and business understanding go hand in hand? Are you motivated by turning complex regulations into practical solutions that make everyday work easier for others?

If so, you might be the Product Compliance Specialist we are looking for at ABENA.

ABENA operates across several business areas, with healthcare as our primary focus, alongside non-healthcare related categories such as Waste Management, Paper and Cleaning. Each area comes with its own compliance requirements, customer expectations, and maturity levels. This role exists because compliance has become a key enabler of our business. Customers, authorities, and internal stakeholders increasingly expect well‑structured documentation that can be delivered accurately and on time.

Your task is to ensure that ABENA has the right compliance and product data in place and that it works in practice. You will work hands‑on with documentation, product safety requirements, and legislative follow‑up, acting as a pragmatic supporter of the business rather than a controller. The value of the role lies in translating complex compliance requirements into clear documentation, practical processes, and usable answers for colleagues and customers.

Your main responsibilities

  • Ensure collection, maintenance and quality control of compliance documentation for our products
  • Support the business by delivering documentation packages to customer contacts when required
  • Translate legislative requirements from Global Compliance into practical documentation and processes
  • Follow up on product safety requirements, including risk assessments for products where required
  • Help establish and document missing processes to create transparency and structure
  • Support and structure compliance and product data in systems

Success in this role starts with creating structure. From there, you know how to turn complex documentation and regulatory requirements into simple, compliant processes that make everyday work easier for your colleagues. By doing so, you allow teams to focus their time and energy on what matters most to them.

What we hope you bring

  • Experience from a commercial compliance, quality or regulatory role in a business context is an advantage
  • A structured mindset and the ability to create structure
  • The ability to turn complex requirements into practical solutions
  • An understanding of how compliance supports sales, customers and operations
  • A collaborative approach – you succeed by helping others succeed
  • The patience and persistence to work with tasks that take time and coordination

Your Team, Our Culture and Values

You will work closely with colleagues across several parts of the organization, including Compliance, Waste Management, Cleaning, Paper, and the commercial organization. Collaboration is essential—both to understand different needs and to develop solutions that work in practice.

This is not a role anchored in one fixed team. Instead, you will be part of several cross-functional constellations and work across many interfaces throughout the organization. This gives you a broad network, significant insight into the business, and a high degree of freedom in how you structure your daily collaboration and working relationships.

Your leader is Head of Purchasing Nicko Rasmussen Olesen, who describes his leadership style as follows:

“I give you room to work in a way that fits both your role and your life - this is not a lack of interest, but a conscious choice. We align through monthly check-ins, and among those, I am available when you need me. I also expect you to reach out proactively. The value you create together with your colleagues matters more to me than my individual assessment. Strong collaboration and mutual respect are the foundation of how we succeed.”

We look forward to hearing from you

If you’re interested in the position, please send your application and CV. You may submit your application in either Danish or English.

We review applications as we receive them and will close the process once we’ve found our new colleague.

Read more about our recruitment process here.

If you’d like to know more about the job, feel free to contact Head of Purchase Nicko Rasmussen Olesen at +45 6026 9822.

Export Coordinator – Making International Orders Run Smoothly

Aabenraa

You enjoy keeping things on track from start to finish and like working closely with different teams. Do you also want some influence over how your work is done, help improve daily processes, and be part of making things run smoother over time?

If that sounds like you, you might feel right at home as an Export Coordinator at ABENA.

This role is a temporary maternity cover, with a start date as soon as possible and running until the end of March 2027.

In ABENA’s International Customer Service (ICS), you’ll have a varied and busy workday. Every year, we handle around 13,000 export orders together with our international subsidiaries and wholesalers around the world.

As an Export Coordinator, you will be the person who keeps an eye on the full order process for our export customers – from when the order comes in until the goods are shipped. You make sure everything works logistically, that the warehouse has what it needs, and that customers are informed if anything changes.
You will work with many people, both inside and outside the company, and act as the link between sales, production, purchasing, warehouse, transport partners, and shipping.

We work in an international market that changes all the time. What worked yesterday might not work today. That’s why it’s important that you take responsibility, stay motivated, and keep going even when things get complicated.

Your tasks will include:

  • Handling export orders by truck and general cargo to many parts of the world
  • Daily communication with customers
  • Calculating volumes for different transport units
  • Booking transport
  • Handling claims and complaints

If you are good at staying organised, getting tasks finished, and giving customers friendly and helpful service while finding the best solution together, you are well on your way to doing well in this job.

What we’re looking for:

Your background is likely within order handling – for example as an export assistant, freight forwarder, or similar. We also hope that you:

  • Have experience with international shipments (a plus, but not a must – motivation to learn is more important)
  • Are comfortable using Excel and Microsoft programs
  • Have experience with ERP systems such as Axapta and/or SAP (an advantage)
  • Like working in a structured way and appreciate clear written procedures
  • Are thorough, pay attention to details, and keep a good overview
  • Communicate positively with colleagues and partners
  • Speak and write Danish and English; German or other languages are a plus

Everyday conversations in the team are mostly in Danish, while a large part of our communication with customers and partners is in English. So it’s important that you’re comfortable using English in both writing and conversation.

You meet customers in a professional and positive way and focus on finding solutions. With your colleagues, you are open, friendly, have a sense of humour, and are happy to help when needed.

Your team and everyday life at ABENA

ICS offers a fast‑paced and interesting workday. In ABENA International, you’ll join around 40 dedicated and skilled colleagues who are ready to welcome you to the team.

Your team consists of nine colleagues split into two smaller teams working with sea and road transport. You will join the road transport team. We support each other and take shared responsibility when someone is away.

At ABENA, we believe work should be enjoyable, so we value good teamwork and having a laugh together.

Your leader as Export Coordinator will be Department Manager ICS, Mette Nielsen, who says:

“As a leader, I focus on trust and respect and give my employees space to grow and take ownership of their tasks and development. I am approachable and involved, and I care about creating a safe work environment where people feel heard and included. When needed, I take part in daily operations to support the team and stay close to everyday work. You can count on me to support you – both when things go well and when they’re challenging. We build on honesty.”

We look forward to hearing from you

If you’re interested in the position, please send your application and CV. You may submit your application in either Danish or English.

We review applications as we receive them and will close the process once we’ve found our new colleague.

If you’d like to know more about the job, feel free to contact Department Manager ICS, Mette Nielsen, at +45 30 37 23 91.
