The Protein Research Group at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense is seeking a skilled doctoral candidate (DC, PhD student) to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the European Doctoral Network MIPrecise for development of novel affinity-binders for high-sensitivity proteomics and biomedical applications in cancer.
This PhD position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the international MIPrecise research project in a highly collaborative and dynamic working environment at SDU, Odense, DK.

The position is for 3 years and is available from February 1, 2026.
Role and Responsibilities:
Use protein design concepts and deep-learning computational methods to develop novel protein-based affinity-binders for detection and quantification of post-translational modifications in proteins and peptides.
Produce, purify and test selected designer proteins for enrichment of cancer biomarkers and to understand cellular signalling pathways involving post-translational modifications, including methylated and phosphorylated protein species.
Complete coursework (30 ECTS) and contribute to workshops and training events within the MIPrecise consortium.
Visit collaborating research groups at Malmö University (S), University of Pavia (I), ReSyn Biosciences (RSA) and Proteome Sciences (D) for advanced training.

Experience in computational and experimental protein science: Candidates with experience in protein 3D structure analysis, protein expression and characterization will be prioritized.
Programming Skills: Working knowledge in standard scripting languages such as R and Python is recommended.

The Molecular Metabolism and Metabolomics group, Department of Bicohemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications from talented candidates interested in exercise physiology, functional metabolomics and small-molecule signaling to join our team as a postdoctoral researcher. The position is for 2.5 years, available from January 1st, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will join a vibrant research environment led by Prof. Nils J. Færgeman. The group currently consist of academic staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and bachelor and master students. Our research focuses on understanding metabolic regulation and signaling at both molecular and systemic levels, aiming at unraveling how metabolism of nutrients and metabolites is controlled.
This project aims to uncover how specific exercise-induced metabolites regulates systemic metabolism and their role in improving metabolic health in obesity and type 2 diabetes. The successful candidate will utilize LC/MS-based functional metabolomics, proteomics, cell-based functional studies, and advanced receptor screening and ligand-binding assays.

Applications are invited for two postdoc positions with SDU Health Informatics and Technology (HIT), The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute (MMMI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Odense. Both positions are for 2 years with the possibility of extension depending on possible additional funding. The positions will be part of two externally funded projects, WISDOM and CHOICE. The planned starting date for the positions is January 15, 2026, or soon thereafter.
Research projects
WISDOM (funded by Horizon Europe; 2023-2028) is led by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden and has partners from 10 different European countries. SDU HITs role in WISDOM is development and implementation of responsible state-of-the-art artificial intelligence mediated models and decision support systems for chronic immune-mediated diseases (in particular, multiple sclerosis). CHOICE (funded by NordForsk; 2025-2029) is led by Odense University Hospital in Denmark and has partners in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. SDU HITs role in CHOICE is adaptation and implementation of responsible state-of-the-art artificial intelligence mediated models and decision support systems for identification of people at risk of osteoporosis. Postdoc positions
Both postdoc positions will focus on development and implementation of AI-based decision support in clinical practice using a co-design methodology.
In relation to WISDOM, the goal is to develop and evaluate a demonstrator (TRL 5-6) that supports selected use cases related to shared decision making by patients and health care professionals in multiple sclerosis management.
In relation to CHOICE, the goal is to develop and evaluate a decision support system (TRL 8-9) that is integrated with the general practitioner´s electronic health record system XMO from CompuGroup Medical.
Both postdoc positions will contribute to each project and will require close collaboration between the selected candidates as well as project members from WISDOM and CHOICE.
Ideal candidates
To qualify for the postdoc positions, you must hold a Ph.D. degree in software engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, or a related discipline.
The ideal candidates will have many of the following competences.
software engineering experience (full stack development)
artificial intelligence experience (including explainability and interpretability)
experience in interdisciplinary work
experience in working with external stakeholders and domain experts (i.e., using the co-design method)
experience in development of AI-augmented decision support tools
experience in UI and UX design
knowledge of the health domain
We envision hiring postdocs with different profiles that in combination possess the listed competences. Profile 1 will be mostly software engineering oriented, while Profile 2 will be mostly artificial intelligence and decision support oriented.
About MMMI and SDU HIT
MMMI is an internationally recognized research department that conducts research within robotics, drone technology, artificial intelligence, I4.0, software engineering as well as health and energy informatics.
SDU HIT conducts interdisciplinary research related to data driven health technology in close collaboration with experts from various fields. There is a strong emphasis on the development of high TRL systems related to intelligent monitoring and decision support; predictive models for prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis; digital health systems offering novel personalized data collection, treatment plans and interventions. SDU HIT has research activities in areas such as geriatrics, mental health, compassion, cancer, cardiology, osteoporosis, and multiple sclerosis.

Who we are looking for
An ideal candidate:
holds a PhD degree in computer science or equivalent;
has a research track record at a high international level, reflecting the academic age of the applicant;
can teach and advise in computer science at all levels.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Danish is not a requirement: more English than Danish is used when teaching in computer science, and more than half of the faculty members in computer science have international backgrounds. Declaration of Interest regarding PhD project at the Research Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU)
A full-time, three-year PhD position is available within the FEMME project (FErtility and Medically assisted reproduction: Mapping women’s short- and long-term health Effects) at the Research Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Clinical Research, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), from 1 March 2026.
Research environment
The PhD position is part of the FEMME project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
The position is hosted within the Research Unit of Obstetrics and Gynecology, SDU, and conducted in close collaboration with the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmacy and Environmental Medicine (CPPEM) and the Danish Cancer Society.
The PhD student will join an interdisciplinary and engaged research environment with expertise in reproductive epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and women’s health. We combine clinical perspectives with advanced population-based research using nationwide health data to address key questions about women’s health across the life course. Our group is collaborative, international, and dedicated to high scientific standards, while maintaining an open and informal atmosphere. We value curiosity, teamwork, and mutual support, and we take pride in creating a space where young researchers can develop their skills and thrive both scientifically and personally.
In daily work, the PhD student will report to associate professor Mette Bliddal and assistant professor Noémie Roland, but he/she will also be expected to contribute to the whole research unit.
Project description
The FEMME project seeks to investigate women’s somatic and mental health following fertility treatment. Within this framework, the PhD project presented here forms part of Work Package 1 (WP1), which focuses on women’s cardiovascular health after medically assisted reproduction (MAR).
Specifically, the PhD project aims to improve understanding of the short- and long-term cardiovascular effects in women of cumulative infertility treatments including those who did not achieve pregnancy, using nationwide health and population registers from Denmark and Norway. The project will explore the occurrence of major cardiovascular events in women undergoing MAR and examine how treatment characteristics influence women’s cardiovascular health.
The PhD candidate will work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary supervisory team and will have access to strong data infrastructures and relevant courses in epidemiology and statistics.
Qualifications
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious candidate with:
· A Master’s degree (MD, MSc, or equivalent) in Public Health, Medicine, Pharmacy, Epidemiology, or a related discipline
· Strong interest in epidemiological methods, data analysis, and coding (e.g., R, Stata, or similar)
· Interest in women’s health, fertility treatment, and population-based research
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
· Excellent communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English
Prior experience with register-based research is an advantage, but not required.

The Department of Biology at SDU invites applications for a position as research assistant in harbour porpoise audiometry. The position is available for up to 1 year from the 1st of January 2026.
The research assistant will be responsible for assessing the effects on hearing on harbour porpoises from so-called vibropiling and other underwater sounds. Vibropiling is a new technology used to secure offshore windmill towers into the sediment. The effects on harbour porpoises is studied using the three specimen in captivity at Fjord&Bælt, Kerteminde, Denmark. Both behavioural reactions using playback as well as temporary threshold shifts in the hearing system are measured.
Specific tasks for the research assistant include
Temporary threshold shift measurements and analysis by audory brainstem response as well as psychophysics;
Performing playback studies and analysing behavioural response data;
Calibration of sensors; and
Participate in other projects on echolocation and hearing in odontocetes.
We seek a candidate with a M.Sc. degree in biology, environmental sciences or engineering, experience with experimental work on marine mammals, scientific programming skills as well as good organizational, planning, and communication skills.

Job description
The successful candidate will get a unique chance to participate in research and collaboration with the scientific as well as commercial communities in the field of proton exchange membrane electrolyzer catalyst material development, characterization, production and recycling, and contribute to research within applied science.
The main tasks include the following activities:

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, collaborative candidate with a documented research background and engineering experience, and who communicates well in an international environment. Documented ability to publish in international peer reviewed journals is a strong merit.
The candidate must be able to carry out independent, systematic and rigorous research and engineering work clearly aligned with the overall project activity. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing is required.

Som et led i omstillingen etableres afdelingen Planning i SDU Uddannelse. Afdelingen får ansvaret for administration og planlægning af undervisning og eksamen for SDU’s uddannelser, og vil være den primære indgang for henvendelser fra undervisere og studerende vedrørende undervisning og eksamen. Vi søger derfor en afdelingschef til Planning, der kan stå i spidsen for at sikre driften og samtidig tage hånd om afdelingens udvikling i den nye organisering.
Om stillingen
Hele 2026 vil være præget af organisatorisk omstilling og konsolidering af nye strukturer og samarbejder. Som afdelingschef får du en central rolle i at samle studieadministrative medarbejdere fra institutter og fakulteter i én afdeling, hvor du skal sikre, at medarbejderne kommer godt på plads i den nye organisering, samtidig med at driften fortsat løses sikkert og robust.
I Planning etableres der fem fakultetsspecifikke teams med henblik på at skabe faglige fællesskaber og robusthed i opgaveløsningen, hvor medarbejderne vil fungere som fast understøttelse for det pågældende fakultet. De fem teams håndterer opgaver i relation til undervisning- og eksamensadministration med skemaplanlægning, lokalebooking, censorallokering, kvalitetssikring, afvikling af mundtlige og skriftlige eksamener mm.
Under Planning samles også de studieadministrative opgaver indenfor efter- og videreuddannelse i et team.
Afdelingen kommer til at bestå af en afdelingschef, en souschef, seks teamledere og ca. 60-70 medarbejdere. En kerneopgave for ledergruppen i Planning bliver at sikre trivslen for medarbejderne i den nye organisering, og bringe deres stærke faglige kompetencer i spil til både drifts- og udviklingsopgaver.
Stillingen som souschef slås op i løbet af november, og teamlederne er konstituerede indtil 31. marts 2026. Det bliver afdelingschefens opgave at rekruttere de faste teamledere.
Som afdelingschef i Planning vil du også have tæt koordinering med vicedirektøren for uddannelse, Stinne Hørup Hansen og de uddannelsesadministrative chefer på fakulteterne, som mødes i Koordinerende Forum for Uddannelsesadministration (KFU).
Dine opgaver
Som afdelingschef for Planning vil du få en central rolle i organisationsændringen. Det bliver din opgave at sikre en stabil drift og høj kvalitet i opgaveløsningen – også mens forandringerne står på – og samtidig skabe tydelige samarbejdsstrukturer for både undervisere og studerende.
Du vil stå i spidsen for konsolideringen af fem fakultetsspecifikke teams samt et team for efter- og videreuddannelse, og skal lede og støtte medarbejdere og teamledere gennem forandringen. Når den nye organisering er på plads, vil fokus skifte mod at optimere, standardisere og digitalisere processer, herunder implementeringen af et nyt studieadministrativt system, der forventes lanceret i 2028.
Derudover skal du være med til at udvikle samarbejdsstrukturer på tværs af SDU Uddannelse, fakulteternes uddannelsesadministrationer og uddannelsesledelserne. Du får ansvar for at skabe en tydelig retning for afdelingen og sikre et stærkt samspil med resten af organisationen.
I tæt samarbejde med vicedirektøren, KFU og de øvrige afdelingschefer skal du sikre, at ambitionerne fra omstillingsprojektet bliver indfriet.
