Job Overview

As Interconnect Hardware Design Engineer at Phanofi, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative interconnect hardware that forms the backbone of next-generation data centers and advanced electronics. This position offers the opportunity to lead the design and integration of optoelectronic components, mixed signal electronics, and high-speed PCBs for transceiver solutions within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of high-speed PCB and packaging solutions for advanced interconnect products.
  • Take ownership of transceiver and interconnect hardware designs, including thermal, EMC/EMI, and system performance considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to manage complex projects and integrate multiple system components.
  • Support system-level testing, characterization, and validation, focusing on high data rate performance and reliability.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively across stakeholders and report progress regularly.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree or MSc. degree or equivalent in photonics engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronic circuit and PCB design, preferably for high-speed interconnects or related hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, packaging techniques, and hardware validation.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing projects and driving hardware design from concept to production.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or hardware description language (e.g., Python, C, VHDL, Verilog).
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in thermal management techniques for high-power density systems.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of optoelectronic component integration.
  • Familiarity with high data rate system characterization and radio frequency (RF) testing.
  • Understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) design and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in tape-out of RF chips and high-speed electronic design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Photonics devices, optical communication, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in photonics research and development particularly PIC design


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of photonics design theory and optical communication principles
  • Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Ansys Lumerical, COMSOL) and programming languages (e.g., Python)
  • Expertise in RF design using ADS or HFSS would be a plus
  • Strong teamwork abilities
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • A good balance between attention to detail and ability to see the big picture
  • Strong personal interest in building an optical interconnect product from the ground up
